Supporting you with UK visas and immigration.

What we do

The International Student Advice Team offers free, confidential support to:

  • LJMU students and their family members
  • applicants to LJMU
  • recent graduates

We are part of LJMU’s Student Life and Wellbeing Services.

We can help with:

  • applying for or extending a Student visa
  • understanding your working rights during and after your studies
  • applying for the Graduate Route visa
  • bringing dependants (partner or children) to the UK
  • travel advice (leaving and returning to the UK)
  • changing your course or university
  • taking a break from studies or withdrawing
  • other UK visa types (for example, Standard Visitor Visa)

Visa application support

We guide you through:

  • student visa applications (inside and outside the UK)
  • visa extensions and switching visa types
  • Graduate Route visa: eligibility and application steps
  • required documents (such a CAS and financial evidence)
  • understanding visa conditions (for example work limits)
  • avoiding common mistakes that lead to refusals

Please note:
We don’t submit applications for you, but we help you understand the process and requirements.

Important information

  • Our advice is based on the information you give us.
  • Immigration rules can change quickly, always check the latest guidance.
  • If your case is complex, we may refer you to a registered immigration adviser.
  • If you are already working with a solicitor or adviser, we are unable to advise you.

Your privacy

We follow UK data protection laws. We won’t share your information unless:

  • you give us permission
  • there’s a risk to you or others
  • we’re required to by law (for example visa breaches)

Working with others

We may contact your LJMU faculty or UKVI to help with your case. We may also consult UKCISA (without naming you) for expert advice.

Record keeping

We securely store case notes for up to 6 years.
